Starting December 15, 2023, institutions with more than 50 employees must have a functional internal reporting system for receiving reports of possible selected unlawful actions. This is a new obligation introduced by the recently enacted Whistleblower Protection Act.
If you encounter possible unlawful actions in your workplace and decide to report them, the employer is obligated to allow you to safely report this conduct, investigate the report, and provide protection against retaliatory measures, such as termination of employment or salary reduction.
