Labour Law Changes 2025

On June 1, 2025, the Czech Republic implemented a significant amendment to its Labour Code, known as the "Flexi Amendment." This reform aims to modernize employment laws, making them more adaptable to today's work environment. Key changes include adjustments to notice periods, probation durations, parental leave policies, and increased transparency in wages. These updates are designed to benefit both employers and employees by promoting flexibility and clarity in the workplace

Faster Notice Period

The notice period now starts on the day the notice is delivered, not from the first day of the following month. In cases of serious misconduct or failure to meet job requirements, the notice period can be shortened to one month.

Longer Probation Period

The maximum probation period has been extended:

Working During Parental Leave

Employees on parental leave can now work for their employer under a different contract (e.g., agreement to perform work) in the same position. Additionally, if they return before the child turns two, they are guaranteed their original job and workplace.

Youth Employment from Age 14

As of June 1, 2025, individuals aged 14 and above are permitted to perform light work during the main summer holidays, even if they have not completed compulsory education. Entering into an employment contract or agreement for work outside the employment relationship requires written consent from a legal guardian. The work must be classified as first-category and must not endanger the minor's health, education, or moral development. Employers are obligated to ensure an initial medical examination and maintain a register of employed minors.

Transparency in Pay

Employers can no longer prevent employees from discussing their wages or salary components. Any attempt to restrict this is considered unlawful and may result in penalties.
